Latisse Side Effects? Jan:11
Ever since it became available in the US, LATISSE® eyelash growth enhancer has been making waves in the beauty world. LATISSE is now available in Vancouver by prescription, and our staff and patients have been thrilled with the results!
LATISSE is considered safe to use—it is the only eyelash growth treatment to stimulate inadequate lashes that is approved by Health Canada and the US FDA. It has been tested and clinically proven to produce fuller, darker and longer eyelashes. The active ingredient is bimatoprost, which helps stimulate the eyelash growth cycle. The solution is applied once a day topically to the base of your upper eyelashes with a disposable applicator. Results may be seen in as little as 8 weeks, and full, thick, natural eyelash growth should be achieved by 16 weeks.
Below are two common questions about potential LATISSE side effects:
Q: Does LATISSE have side effects to be concerned about?
A: At Pacific Dermaesthetics, a few LATISSE users had side effects of red, irritated eyelids. When we switched the patient over to Revitalash (a similar product), the symptoms were alleviated. It appears at least one of the eyelash growth solutions will work without aggravating the delicate eyelid tissue.
Q: I’ve heard that blue eyes may change their colour as a side effect when using LATISSE. Is this true?
A: If the solution is placed directly in the eye, it’s possible for brown spots to develop on the iris. However, there were no issues with this in the LATISSE study. It’s important to follow application directions and only apply a single drop onto the liner brush, and apply it to the lash line (not the lashes) to avoid getting it into the eye.
If you have any concerns about using LATISSE or Revitalash and their side effects, please be sure to mention your concerns to Dr. McGillivray or Dr. Rivers during your consultation.
